We want to evolve through new challenges, following the model of the natural ecosystem that surrounds us. Our aim is to build sustainable and trustworthy relationships with our consumers.

A life project

Since we met, we have given life to projects, children and wine together. In 1999 we founded Viña Cobos with Paul Hobbs achieving great international recognition by making wines that are a benchmark for quality in Argentina. In 2004 we started our own dream with some barrels to enjoy with friends. Both projects ran in parallel until, in 2016, we decided to launch our Marchiori-Barraud brand, guided by our philosophy and values. The center of our life is family. The wines, an extension of our way of being and doing. We feel abundant and that is why we share every goal and challenge by uniting labor and vocation with all the people who work by our side.

Our Wines

We think our wines as a living landscape, which in the present revels its future possibilities and can awaken the same joy we feel among other people who love and respect each other.

M&B Corte

"A blend of Argentine Cabernet Sauvignon among the most distinguished ones"
In 1998 we decided to grow this variety at the Marchiori Vineyard, convinced to produce a Cabernet that would earn its respected place among the most recognized in the world. This is our M&B Corte, a wine of complexity and high aging potential that highlights the identity of soil and vintage. Small proportions of Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that vary each year are fused with Cabernet Sauvignon giving to us a brand-new wine in each harvest. We make it in the traditional way in stainless steel tanks and aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

Hornero

"Commitment to family and teamwork"
The “hornero” is our national bird. Every year the couple build a new mud nest that represents the renewal of our commitment to family and teamwork. This symbolizes our way of understanding life. Following its style, our Hornero wine is based on Malbec and has a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot whose percentages vary each year. We make it in stainless steel tanks and it is aged in oak barrels for 16 months.

Cuartel 2

"The beginnings of our dream"
Under this 100% varietal line we make a Malbec and a Cabernet Franc. The word “cuartel” means a block or parcel on the farms. Cuartel is the wine that began our dream. It is made in a traditional way and it has 12 months of aging in second and third used barrels. These wines have a lot of fruit, aromatic intensity and freshness, plus the wood accompanies the prominence of the grape variety.

M&B Mendoza

“A blend of lands for each varietal"
It is a 100% varietal line where we make Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. In each one, grapes from various farms are combined. We traditionally make them with a subtle presence of oak staves to enhance their fruity expressiveness.

Sustainability

Winemaking is related to the environment. Our vineyards are part of the ecological balance and that´s why we take care of them so that they grow healthy. We want to generate the least impact and create awareness around us. Under this commitment, we focus on converting the use of fertilizers and pesticides to organic control methods, protecting the diversity of nature and avoiding soil erosion. Through drip irrigation, we use water efficiently and monitor the humidity of the land to provide each plant what it needs. We seek to return to a greater connection with the earth, accompanied by the most advanced precision technologies. The world is more interconnected and interdependent than we think, that is why we choose to work collaboratively integrating the nature, the economy and the human being.

Our Vineyards

THE COMBINATION OF SOILS, CLIMATE AND VINEYARDS PROVIDE US THE RICHNESS, STRENGTH AND DIVERSITY OF OUR WINES.

Las Piedras

"THE RIVER AND THE BREEZE STIMULATE THE FORMATION OF GRAINS OF THICK SKIN, RICH IN POLYPHENOL"
MENDOZA RIVER ZONE
The riverbank where the vineyards are located is characterized by soils formed by the deposit of coarse materials such as boulders, sands of different calibers and large-sized silts. They are very young soils with a loamy texture, with well-marked layers and very good permeability. The proximity of the river generates a constant breeze that circulates from west to east during the mornings and in the opposite direction during the afternoons. This allows the vine to produce thick-skinned grains with high polyphenol content, ideal for our complex wines with great structure and tannins.

Marchiori Vineyard

"WINES OF STRUCTURE, COMPLEXITY AND HIGH AGING POTENTIAL"
AGRELO AND PERDRIEL, LUJÁN DE CUYO
The Marchiori Vineyard was owned by Don Nico Marchiori since the late 70s. 20 years later, following his legacy, we focused on producing a Malbec that was distinguised from its peers and on proving that this terroir could provide a world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard soils have layers with silty and clay loam textures where fine materials predominate. They are very deep and allow for great radical exploration. The wide thermal amplitude along the vegetative cycle, especially during the maturity stage, allows both acids and polyphenols to reach their optimum ripeness.

La Esperanza Vineyard

"VERY FRESH WINES, WITH A GREAT AROMATIC PROFILE"
LAS PINTADAS, TUNUYÁN
This vineyard located in the Uco Valley conquered us for its multiple qualities. It has a structure of calcareous soils with a high presence of calcium and magnesium carbonate that can be seen as small white specks mixed between layers of varying thickness that cannot be traversed by the roots. In this lower part of the Valley, the thermal amplitude with very cold nights and warm days gives us fruit with an important acidity character, rich in polyphenols to obtain very fresh wines with a great aromatic profile.

Mendoza - Argentina

Argentina is the fifth largest wine producer in the world. Its wine regions located at the foot of the Andes extend from north to south, from 23 ° to 45 ° latitude. Mendoza, home to our family and wines, leads the production in the Cuyo region and is one of the great world wine capitals. The Andes mountain has a great influence on the characteristics of Argentine wine by acting as a natural barrier stopping the humid winds from the Pacific Ocean. The altitude of the vineyards in Mendoza varies between 2000 to 5000 feet above sea level. At this point the air is cold but the vines receive a lot of sunlight due to an annual average of 300 days of sunshine with little rainfall, which allows a slow and progressive ripening. Pure meltwater is a key resource for our agriculture. Driven naturally by rivers and channeled through a man-made system of canals and ditches, we use it in a conscious and responsible way on our farms. Our grapes come from two sub-regions of Mendoza: the Uco Valley, which includes the Tunuyán, Tupungato and San Carlos. And the First Zone, corresponding to Luján de Cuyo and Maipú.
